CONFIDENTIALITY: All interactions with Acton Bespoke Counselling, including scheduling of or attendance at appointments, the content of your sessions, progress in counselling, and your records are confidential. You may request in writing that the counselling staff release specific information about your counselling to persons you designate.
EXCEPTIONS TO CONFIDENTIALITY:
The Province of British Columbia requires that the staff of Counselling who learn of, or strongly suspect, physical or sexual abuse or neglect of any person under 19 years of age, an adult dependent, or an elderly person must report this information to the relevant protection services. If a counsellor(s) suspects imminent danger of harm to self and/or others, the counsellor(s) is/are legally required to report this information to the relevant authority responsible for ensuring safety and inform the intended victim.
In relation to couple's counselling, ongoing extra-marital relationships are not deemed to be confidential within the couples counselling sessions. The therapist will determine if they believe couples work is beneficial for your presenting situation.
When working with minors, it is my policy to meet with the parent(s) to obtain background information on the presenting concerns and to gain written consent to treatment prior to meeting with your child for the first time.
