Get to know your innermost habits and responses so that you can live a conscious life.
Let's start by acknowledging that one size does not fit all when it comes to providing therapy. There are as many different methods as there are presenting problems.
When deciding upon a method to incorporate into my practice, it was important for me to reflect the individuality you can expect to receive when you receive services.
There is no doubt that relationships are hard work and like any work, there are times when people struggle. What once attracted you to your partner could be the very thing that is getting in the way of the happiness you previously enjoyed. Whether you have disconnected over time, there have been hurtful words spoken or physical interactions, maybe an affair partner or other external stressors that appear insurmountable to you right now, you don't have to do this alone.
My specialty is walking with you on your journey to recovery. I will help you discover the options you have when faced with (what can often appear to be) over-whelming dilemmas.
To ensure the safety of clients and staff, if you are sick, have any of the respiratory symptoms associated with cold and flu season (cough, sneezing, shortness of breath, fever) please stay home. For those clients wishing to meet virtually, tele-therapy will continue to be available.
Hi I'm Gen Acton. Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. This is the first step in receiving qualified support on your journey to reconnection and recovery.

Friendly dogs are on site. Be ready for a warm welcome from Hamilton and Stanley Acton as you embark on your journey towards rediscovery.
Incorporating the highly acclaimed Gottman Method of Clinical Counselling into my practice, this journey of rediscovery focuses on moving away from the negative behaviour patterns that are getting in the way of your love story through rebuilding friendship, trust and commitment.
We will work together to help you appreciate your relationship's strengths and use them to to gently navigate through its vulnerabilities
1. ASSESSMENT:
The initial couple of sessions focus on gathering background information on your areas of concern and goals for treatment.
2. TREATMENT:
The length of therapy will be determined by your specific needs and goals. In the course of therapy, I will establish points in which to evaluate your satisfaction and progress. Also, I encourage you to raise any questions or concerns that you have about therapy at any time.
Acton Bespoke Counselling offers Marathon Couples Therapy for those couples looking for intensive therapy. It is ideally suited for highly distressed couples, where long term therapy would not deliver the immediate tools required, cannot be delivered in the desired time-frame, couples who do not live in the greater Vernon area or are unable to attend regular sessions.
# Marathon Couples Therapy is not suitable for couples who have already checked out of the marriage or have decided to leave. See Discernment Therapy.
Following the same structure as individual sessions (review the summary of couples therapy above), Couples Marathon Therapy has the intention of fast tracking the root of the problems and working on the skills to improve the relationship in a timely manner.
A complete online assessment, together with an individual counselling session with each partner (either in person, via Zoom or telephone call) prior to the therapy, helps to identify the challenges being faced in advance so that we may begin the treatment from the start.
Are you questioning whether couples therapy is for you? Are you a 'mixed agenda' couple where one partner is looking to save the relationship while their partner has one foot out of the door?
Once lawyers are involved the path to divorce can seem inevitable; 30% of couples heading for divorce wish there had been another option. That option is Discernment Counselling.
What's the difference between couples therapy and discernment counselling?
Couples Therapy is the motivation to get the relationship back on track, learning new skills to add to your toolbox to work on communication, shared goals, re-building friendship and ultimately re-igniting the love you once had.
Discernment Counselling is finding the clarity, confidence and understanding to decide which path you choose to take moving forward:
Path 1: The status quo; remaining on course
Path 2: The decision to separate or divorce
Path 3: Acknowledging your role in the break-down of the relationship with the goal of heading towards couples therapy
Using either couples therapy or discernment counselling, I will meet you where you are at in your journey, supporting you to establish clarity on the path to understanding that you are looking to achieve from this work.
Note: Couples therapy is not suitable for couples engaged in an ongoing affair.
